The hackathon

MCP Hackathon Africa 2025 was a continent-wide, eight-week programme run by The Cortex Hub, bringing together developers, researchers, start-ups and students across more than 40 African cities — spanning Southern, West, Central, East and North Africa — to build practical solutions using the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard for giving large language models structured, locally relevant information. The programme included bootcamps, mentorship and starter technical resources, and culminated in a continental showcase in Cape Town on 11–12 November 2025, where finalists presented to investors, incubators and technology leaders.
