The Media, Information and Communication Technologies Sector Education and Training Authority operates under Section 9(1) of the Skills Development Act, Act No 97 of 1998, developing critical ICT skills across five sub-sectors: Advertising, Film and Electronic Media, Electronics, Information Technology, and Telecommunications. MICT SETA is funding and commissioning this hackathon.

The Cortex Accelerator Hub
The Cortex Accelerator Hub is a start-up incubation and acceleration hub based at 33 Church Street, East London, supporting tech start-ups building socially impactful solutions through a 12-month incubation programme, a 12-month acceleration sprint, and eight specialised innovation labs spanning robotics, AI and machine learning, fibre optics, IoT, film and digital media, fintech, e-sports and electronics. The Hub is the South African National Organiser for the ITU Robotics for Good Youth Challenge.

UCT Financial Innovation Hub
The UCT Financial Innovation Hub is a partner of The Cortex Accelerator Hub in a three-year collaboration operating the UCT–Cortex Hub FinTech Lab, which equips young innovators with practical skills in open banking, data science and fintech entrepreneurship. Through this partnership, Northern Cape participants gain access to additional mentorship and showcase opportunities.
