Teams and participants

How teams work

• South African citizens or permanent residents aged 18–35 at the date of registration
• Registered students at an accredited TVET college or university in the Northern Cape
• Not formally employed in the ICT sector at the time of registration
• Teams of three to five members
• At least one TVET college student per team is strongly encouraged and recognised within the hackathon framework
• Maximum 50 teams accepted; reserves are waitlisted and notified within 48 hours of registration closing

  Sol Plaatje University

  Sol Plaatje University is the Northern Cape's public university, established in Kimberley in 2014 as one of two new universities created after 1994. It offers programmes in information and communication technology, data science, education, natural and applied sciences, economic and management sciences, and heritage studies, and its ICT and data science students form a core part of the Northern Cape talent pool this hackathon is built to reach. Students and staff of the university take part alongside participants from other Northern Cape institutions.

Joining a team

You can register with a team you have already formed, or register on your own and be placed in a team during onboarding. Teams are mixed for skills so that design, development and business thinking are all represented.
